Clare 4-20
Kerry 0-12

A new-look Clare side had minimal fuss in dismantling Kerry this afternoon at Limerick IT to book a first round win in the Munster senior hurling league.

The Banner men scored their largest margin win under joint manager Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor as first-half goals from David Reidy, Cathal O'Connell and Shane O'Donnell had the Kingdom dead in the water by half-time, trailing 3-11 to 0-5.

Reidy's goal came inside three minutes and in the latter stages of the first-half O'Connell and O'Donnell would keep the green flag umpire's arm busy as Clare went in with a 15-point advantage.

Bobby Duggan netted the victors' fourth goal after coming on as a substitute at the start of the second-half and come the final quarter they'd be leading by 4-17 to 0-6.

Kerry finished out the game well with Shane Nolan scoring four of their last five points but they were outmatched here.

Next up for Clare is a battle with Cork on home turf next Sunday while Kerry will travel to take on Limerick.
