Tributes paid to former Tipperary GAA club player who died after battle with illness

Tipperary GAA clubs have paid tribute to the late Kevin Bourke who died after a brave battle with illness.
The 30-year-old, who played football with his local Newport and hurling with Roscrea, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year.
A GoFundMe page raised almost €100,000 for his treatment costs but sadly Kevin passed away on Wednesday and was laid to rest on Friday morning.
"News of the untimely death of Kevin Bourke was received with great sadness in Newport and surrounding areas on Wednesday of this week," Newport GAA said in a Facebook post.
"Since his arrival in Newport as a fifteen year old, Kevin's outgoing and caring nature endeared him to many, not just among his peers, but also among the wider community. Having lined out with hurling and football teams in Roscrea, he quickly made his mark with his adopted club and went on to win North Tipp championship medals with Newport in Minor Football (2007) and Under 21 football (2010).
"Kevin pursued an extensive education path, culminating in a Master's Degree and travelled widely to various parts of the world, until illness struck a few years ago. The esteem in which he was held in the community was highlighted in a highly successfully funding campaign towards his treatment last year.
"Sincere sympathy is extended to his mother, Mary (former Club Secretary and PRO), brother Ruairi, Mary's partner Ger and to the extended Bourke and Barry families.

Roscrea GAA also took to Facebook to express condolences to the Bourke family: "Roscrea Hurling Club would like to offer its sincerest sympathies to Mary, Ruairi Ger, the Bourke family and all family and friends of Kevin. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam."
