Armagh GAA has submitted plans for the development of a £2.5 million Centre of Excellence in Portadown.

The ambitious development at the St Malachy's hurling club will cater for all county teams and academy squads, and will include four full-size floodlit pitches, sports changing pavilion with multi-purpose hall, strength and conditioning suite, spectator stand / terrace, ball wall, air dome, car and coaching parking.

A letter submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge, Craigavon Borough Council read: “This is an important key milestone reached on this significant development project, which is testament to the tremendous work of the project board and everyone who has played a role in bringing this to the planning stage.

“While we await the outcome of the planning process, which will be later this year, we will explore all funding opportunities and we strongly encourage all clubs to continue to raise vital funds through the club draw.”
