Carlow's remarkable rise continued this afternoon in Tullamore when they beat neighbours Kildare in the Leinster SFC for the first time since 1953.
There were euphoric scenes after Turlough O'Brien's men produced the shock of the championship so far with a 2-14 to 1-10 victory. The result gives Carlow an opportunity to avenge their Allianz League Division 4 final loss to Laois in the provincial semi-final on June 10 at Croke Park.
1953 since @Carlow_GAA achieved this what a wonderful day to be alive #CarlowRising pic.twitter.com/JVHxSrKntW

The question we all need to ask ourselves is how can this Carlow juggernaut be stopped?

Wrote this yesterday. Gives me no pleasure saying it but that's not acceptable for a Kildare team with the players they have. Well done to @Carlow_GAA a Div 4 team beating a Div 1 team. Well done https://t.co/MqsjLLSWUM

Historic win for Division 4's Carlow against their Div 1 neighbours.
A first championship victory against Kildare since 1953 and now into a Leinster semi-final against Laois in Croke Park
Carlow didn't kick a single wide all day

Should be a lot of beards around that Kildare team come the qualifiers as don't know how any of them will look in the mirror for a long, long time. Pathetic. Thrilled for Carlow and was actually willing them to hold on entering stoppage time as what's deserved is deserved. #GAA
