A minute's silence was held in memory of the late Liam Miller prior to yesterday's Allianz football league Division 2 clash between Cork and Louth at Pairc Ui Rinn.

The death of the 36-year-old former Republic of Ireland soccer international from cancer on Friday caused widespread shock and sadness.

Liam played underage football and hurling with his local GAA club Eire Og in Ovens before forging a successful soccer career in which he enjoyed spells with Celtic, Manchester United, Leeds United, Sunderland, QPR, Hibernian and Cork City and won 21 senior caps for his country.
