Galway boss Kevin Walsh gave a trademark Arsene Wenger response when he was quizzed on the ugly scenes that marred yesterday's Connacht derby win in Pearse Stadium.

A number of melees broke out in the closing stages of the Tribesmen's 1-13 to 0-11 victory over their arch rivals while referee Anthony Nolan dished out three red cards and 15 yellow cards during the course of the feisty encounter.

"You've seen more than I have, being down on the sideline," Walsh replied to The Irish Independent when asked for his version of events.

"I haven't a lot to say on it, other than we don't like to see too much of that going on.

"I'm very conscious that every player who gets to wear the county jersey is going to fight for his jersey.

"Look, whatever happened when the handbags started, you saw a lot more than me."
