Corofin defender Kieran Fitzgerald is long enough playing the game to know that you never take any side for granted.

Speaking to the Connacht Tribune ahead of Sunday's Connacht club SFC final against Mayo champions Castlebar Mitchels, the former Galway All-Ireland winner stressed that they will need to produce their best form of the year to beat their opponents.

Like, the Galway side, Castlebar are very experienced at this level and are a team littered with inter-county players and Fitzgerald believes that this weekend's clash will be a close affair.

"Look it, they are a Mayo team full of confidence and they won't fear coming to Tuam," said Fitzgerald. "They will feel that they got the better of us twice before on our home patch and I am sure they will be pretty confident that they are going to do that again on Sunday.

"It is probably going to be a tactical, cagey affair early on because we are so familiar with each other. As players, we are familiar with the style of each player.

"Hopefully things will go our way, but we know that it will have to be a really good performance from us - probably our best performance of the year if we are to win the Connacht championship."
