The Late Billy Cormack
The unexpected death of Billy Cormack, The Islands Loughmore on Sunday April 29th 2007.
Billy who was known both near and far was involved in many and varied organisations. He was the first model farmer in the area and was a member of Centenary Co-Op Board, and a member of the IFA and the Farm Relief Service.
He was a staunch GAA supporter and was one of the trustees to the new field in Cuguilla. A life-long pioneer, he was on the county PTAA Committee. He was also a life-long and true member of Fine Gael.
He was involved in the local branch both as Chairman and recently as President. Actually, Billy was present in Loughmore for the National Collecton both on Saturday night and Sunday morning 29th April. He would have been really proud to see Noel Coonan become a TD.
At the Loughmore/Castleiney branch meeting on 18th June 2007, many tributes were paid to Billy including one from Noel Coonan TD. To his wife Julia, sons Pat, Liam and John, daughters Mary and Noreen, brothers, sisters and extended family sincere sympathy was extended. The meeting was adjourned as a mark of honour.
