Moloughney, Jim

November 30, 2007
There was a great sense of sadness in Roscrea as news spread of the passing of Mr Jim Moloughney, Rosemary Street, Roscrea. Jim, who had been ill for some time, was a very well known figure in Roscrea and was the head of one of the town's best known and most respected local families. His passing leaves an enormous void in the lives of all who loved him. Jim was very active in the local community and had a particular love of the GAA. In years gone by he was affiliated to the Clonakenny, Moycarkey/Borris and Ballyskenach clubs and he gave dedicated service to his beloved Roscrea Club. Over the years he served as a selector on the committee and, at the time of his death, he was the serving Vice-President of Roscrea GAA club. A lifelong and loyal supporter of Fianna Fail, Jim also gave selflessly of his time to St.Anne's and nothing was ever to much for him when it came to lending them support of a helping hand. He was also a Peace Commissioner and he gave of his time to caring for the local graveyard, which took the burden off many people who were unable to do so. In his working life, Jim spent many years employed by Roscrea Meat Products, where he was known to be a hard working and diligent employee. But first and foremost Jim was a family man. He took great pride in his wife and family and his home was always open to family, friends and neighbours. Jim is predeceased by his son Sean and is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons Pat, Seamus and Joe, daughters; Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Anne and Pamela, grandchildren, Sons-in-law daughters-in-law, family, neighbours and many, many friends to whom the sincere sympathy of all is extended on their great loss. His remains were removed to St Cronan's Church and following Requiem Mass he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace. Courtesy of the Midland Tribune. November 21, 2007.
