Brussells, Liam

August 30, 2007
There was a profound sense of shock in Roscrea on Tuesday, July 24th, as news spread of the untimely and sudden passing of Mr. Liam Brussells, Rosemount, Roscrea, who passed away while on holiday in Spain. A very well known and greatly liked local man, Liam was a former member of An Garda Shiochana, having retired some years ago. He was also a staunch follower and former player of Roscrea Hurling Club and played at all levels over the years. A holder of many North and County medals, he was part of the team that brought the first ever County title to the town in 1968 and also part of the Roscrea team that won the inaugural Club All-Ireland title in 1971. Liam is survived by his daughters Suzanne (Neville) and Sharon (Dooley), sons Paul and Kevin, their mother Trisha, May, brother and sister, partner Una, grandchildren, relatives and many, many friends to whom the most sincere sympathy is extended on their great loss. There was a huge gathering of mourners at Tierney's Funeral Home on Monday evening last for the removal of his remains to St. Cronan's Church and again on Tuesday morning for Requiem Mass. Guards of Honour were provided by An Garda Siochana and the local Hurling Club. Liam was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Courtesy of The Midland Tribune. August 2007
