Guerin, Tony

The death occurred of Tony (Cornelius) Guerin, Harlesdon, London and Kilross, Co. Tipperary. The deceased was a member a highly respected and popular member of the Guerin family Kilross which is of long standing at Mooresforth, Kilross. Tony was a nephew of the late Michael (Mick) Guerin who managed the Mooresfort Farm. The late Mick was an outstanding Gaelic football player and played well with the Galbally team which played in the county final played at Kilfinane on August 9, 1931 when Galbally defeated Shanagolden on a score of 2-3 to 0-8. Shanagolden lodged an objection as a result of which was ordered by the Limerick County Board and the replay was played at Croom, October 18, 1931 when Galbally again won 5-2 to 0-4 for Shanagolden. Eddie Crowe was a student at Roscrea and scored four goals in the game at full forward, he having played in the centre field. Tony spent most of his working life in London where he was highly respected and popular with his working colleagues. The remains of the deceased were removed from Fraser's Funeral Home where the prayers were recited by Very Reverend Denis Canon Talbot PP Galbally/Aherlow to the Church of Christ the King where they were received by Canon Talbot who also celebrated the requiem Mass assisted by Reverend Fr. Derry Quirke C.C Galbally/Aherlow and the interment took place in Lattin cemetery. The attendance at the removal of the remains reception, at the church requiem Mass and burial was large which paid tribute to the deceased, His wife and family. His death is deeply regretted by his wife Maureen (nee Keogh) Tournafulla, Co. Limerick, sons Tony, D.J Kenneth, daughters Anne, Eileen, Kathleen, Patricia, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
