Durack, Patrick

August 31, 2007
The sudden death of Patrick Durack, Hillview Drive, Thurles and formerly of Cullina, Ballina evoked shock and sadness throughout Thurles and his native parish of Ballina -Boher. Patrick, who was born in 1939, was the only son of the late Jerry and Annie Durack, Cullina and was predeceased by his two sisters, Noreen McCarthy and Ena Bowman. Patrick attended Ballina Primary School and C.B.S. Limerick and was an active member of Ballina GAA Club in his early years. He served as Chairman of the Thurles Urban District Council on a number of occasions and was Fianna Fail Councillor for over twenty years. He was highly regarded as a public representative with an innate sense of duty. Patrick, above all, was a great family man and friend; a very genuine man with a gentle disposition and easy-going manner, who touched the lives of so many people during his sixty-eight years. We extend sincere sympathy to his beloved wife, Patsy; to his sons and daughters, Jerome, Liam, Brian, Miriam, Patricia, Stephanie, Gabrielle, Frances, Grainne, Tara and Ursula; to his sisters Mary Hurley (Cullina) and Annette Panter (London); his fifteen grandchildren, relatives and friends.
