Mick Ryan, who won three All-Ireland SHC titles in 1949, '50 and 51 with the Premier County, has passed away. Mick joined the Tipperary senior hurling panel in the late 1940's and played with the Premier County until 1955, winning three All-Ireland titles in 1949, 1950 and 1951 from the centre-forward position. Mick's list of honours at inter-county level includes five National Hurling League medals and three Railway Cup medals. Mick was selected at centre-forward on the Tipperary Hurling team of the Millennium in 2000. At club level, Mick won two North Senior Hurling titles with his native Roscrea in 1942 and 1945 before moving to Kilkenny where he threw in his lot with Dicksboro, winning a Kilkenny County Senior Hurling medal in 1950. In the early 1950's, Mick moved to Cork where he played with Blackrock before joining St. Finbarrs where he won a Cork County Senior Hurling title in 1955. Mick also won three County Senior Football medals with Clonakilty partnering the great Tom Moriarty at midfield. The Tipperary County Board would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ryan family on their bereavement. The funeral arrangements are as follows - Reposing from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday from Sullivan's Funeral Home at Turners Cross in Cork City to Frank Field Church in Douglas (near Cork airport).
