Maher, Richard

The late Richard Maher The untimely and unexpected death of Richard Maher, Cormackstown saddened and caused much regret in the parish, Richard, only in his sixties, had retired from farming. Recently his health was a cause of little concern, but of late he was in good form. Richard was of a genial and affable disposition, kind and caring. An avid reader, he loved his books. A keen sportsman- in his younger years he was a reputed hurler - he played in all grades for the parish. Latterly he took up golfing and spent many hours of leisure on the golf course. Peace to his kindly soul. To his wife Angela, sons Peter and Frank, daughter Helen, brothers Thomas and Noel, we offer our sympathy on their great loss of a loving and kind-hearted husband, father and brother. His remains were brought to the Abbey and after Requiem Mass he was interred in the Abbey cemetery. His coffin was draped in the green and white flag. The very large and representative congregation at his mass and burial was manifest of Richard's popularity Courtesy of the Tipperary Star 2 June 2007
