The late Willie Dempsey The death occurred on January 19th of Willie Dempsey, Liskeveen, Littleton and formerly of Ballytarsna aged 87 years. The late Willie was employed in Bord na Mona, Littleton for many years where he was much appreciated as a colleague and friend by the other employees. In his youth he was very much involved in GAA activities with the Moycarkey-Borris Club and also ran cross country with the successful great Coolcroo athletic teams of that period. Tug o'war was another sport in which he participated. He won a Mid Tipperary No2 championship with the two-mile-Borris team of 1940 and two No1 junior hurling championship with the Moycarkey-Borris teams of 1943 and '45. Later he graduated to play with the senior hurlers. In later years he was proud of the achievements of his sons on the hurling fields. At the removal of the remains the Moycarkey-Borris GAA club provided a guard of honour and his coffin was draped in the club colours. Following Requiem Mass in St Kevin's Church, Littleton at which Fr Joe Tynan, CC presided, assisted by Fr George Bourke PP., burial took place in Holycross cemetery. Willie is mourned by his wife Anne, sons Patrick, John, Michael and Liam, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and sisters Eileen and Margaret both residing in Canada, grandchildren, nieces, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives to whom sympathy is extended.
