Tipp edge past Antrim

March 18, 2007
Tipperary struggled to a 1-11 to 0-8 victory over brave Antrim in Division 1B of the national hurling league at Templemore. After an even start, the Ulster country struck the last five points of the first half to steal into a shock half-time lead, 0-7 to 0-2. But the game's decisive score arrived 14 seconds into the second half when Pa Burke fired the sliothar to the Saffrons' net to close the gap to two. From there on, the Premier County gradually clawed their way back into contention and Babs Keatings' charges went on to record an unimpressive victory. Tipperary only managed four points from play over the 70 minutes and Eoin Kelly got seven of their twelve scores. The Glensmen's only score of the second half came from the hurl of Brendan Herron and the Ulster champions had to concede defeat despite very impressive displays from Michael McCambridge and Karl McKeegan.
