The late Edward McLoughlin There was a deep sense of shock and sadness in the area at the news of the unexpected death on December 22nd, 2006 of Eddie McLoughlin, Shannaknock, Anacarty and formerly of Loughbrack, Kilcommon. Eddie who was in his 67th year passed away at the Mater Hospital, Dublin following a very brief illness. Eddie worked for Dairygold Co-Op Creamery for 42 years, thirteen of which he spent at the Hollyford branch until his retirement in September 2003. In the 1960's and 70's Eddie played hurling with Sean Treacy's GAA club from it's formation in 1962. He won many honours with the club including a County Intermediate medal in 1966. Members of Sean Treacy's GAA club both past and present and members of Eire Og Anacarty Donohill Gaa club (which whom Eddie's sons play) formed a guard of honour at the church on both days of the funeral. Members of Sean Treacy's GAA club carried Eddie's coffin the last quarter of a mile to his final resting place.
