O'Sullivan John

The late John O'Sullivan
The untimely and unexpected death of a former Killaloe man, John O'Sullivan, evoked shock and regret throughout the district. Born in Creevroe just sixty -six years ago, John attended the local Boy's Primary School and St Senan's Secondary School. Having qualified as a primary teacher he moved to Co. Wicklow where, together with is beloved wife Kathleen, his taught for forty-one years in Valleymount Primary School.
John was extremely popular among his colleagues and pupils both in his role as teacher and later as School Principal. Both Kathleen and himself retired a few years ago and looked forward to 'activity-packed' retirement years together, but unfortunately, the Lord decided otherwise.
John never lost touch with his native Killaloe. He was a prominent member of Smith O'Brien GAA Club where he played hurling at all levels. He was a member of the team that brought the County Minor "A" victory to Killaloe in 1954. John also played at Minor an Senior levels for Clare. He was looking forward to the 2006 Clare Senior A Championship, in which his grandnephew Shane O'Brien, was captain of the Newmarket team.
Following Requiem Mass in Valleymount, John was laid to rest in Naas Cemetery.
We extend our sincere sympathy to John's wife Kathleen: to his sons Sean and Aidan; his sister Betty and Martha; his brother Pat; his extended family, relatives and friends.
