The Late Jack Ryan On Tuesday 6th December, 2005, Jack Ryan, Lisheen was called to his eternal home to join his sisters Sr. Teresa and Annie. Jack was born on the 5th August, 1916 and was a son of James Ryan, Lisheen and Mary Brennan, Ballinroe, Castleiney. Jack was very involved in the GAA all his life and in 1944 he played corner back back on the Moyne team that won the hurling Mid Final. He was a member of the LDF from 1939-1946. Jack took a keen interest in politics both locally and nationally. He was a member of the local branch of Fianna Fail. In 1962, he was appointed as a Peace Commissioner by the then Minister for Justice. Jack's remains were removed from his residence to St. Mary's Church, Moyne, on Wednesday, 7th December. The local branch of Fianna Fail provided a guard of honour on his arrival. Following Requiem Mass, on Thursday, 8th December, Jack was laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Moyne. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife, Joan, daughters, Mary (Hayes), Margaret (McDonnagh) and Joan (Kehoe), sons, Tim and Jim, sisters Kitty, Mary and Sheila, brothers Ned and Jimmy, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
