Shanahan, Dermot

The Late Dermot Shanahan Dermot Shanahan, St Anthony's Church View, Littleton died unexpectedly at University Hospital, Cork on 15th August. The late Dermot was well known in the sports arena for a number of years. He played on parish junior hurling teams in the 1950s and was a respected committee member and selector. He was a founder member of ladies football club and in later years acted as groundsman in Littleton GAA field and was very proficient at making and hooping hurleys. The local GAA and ladies football clubs formed a guard of honour at the removal and the coffin was draped in the clubs colours. A courteous and helpful personality. Dermot was husband to Chrissie and father to Thomas, Dermot and Gareth and brother of Kitty. Following Requiem Mass in St Kevin's Church, Littleton burial took place in the Old Cemetery, Moycarkey.
