McElgun, Miceal

August 13, 2005
The Late Miceal McElgun Before the game a minute's silence was observed in memory of the late Miceal McElgun, Vice-president of Sarsfields Club who died. Miceal had given outstanding service to Sarsfields as a player, winning 10 county senior championships. He was also a referee and county selector and a club selector, and was well known 'gateman' at many venues in the division. As a mark of respect to him, and to Mrs Maggie Tuohy, mother of clubman Eamon Tuohy and John Maguire another former Sarsfield hurler who died in England, the club wore black armbands for the final and the flag was flown at half mast.
