The North combination - who won the county title two years ago - practically assured themselves of a place in the play-offs with a 1-14 to 0-7 victory over Ardfinnan at Drombane on Saturday.

On Friday night at Templetuohy, Moycarkey-Borris pipped JK Brackens in a real thriller, 0-13 to 0-12.

Others to win at the weekend as the competition starts to take shape were Cahir (0-10 to 1-4 against Clonmel), Kilsheelan-Kilcash (1-14 to 0-5 V Mullinahone), Moyle Rovers (3-14 to 0-9 against Fethard) and Arravale Rovers (3-19 to 0-10) against Moyne-Templetuohy). Tweet
