Selector Seanie McGrath expressed satisfaction with Cork's 5-14 to 0-24 victory over Tipperary in last night's SH challenge, which marked the official opening of Cloughduv GAA's new facilities.

Goals from Michael Cussen, Patrick Horgan, Peter O'Brien and Stephen Moylan secured a morale-boosting victory for the Rebels ahead of the Munster SHC.

"To be fair we were rubbish in the first half and coach Jimmy Barry-Murphy let the players know that in no uncertain manner at half time," McGrath said in the Irish Independent.

"Thankfully the players responded in the second half and coupled with a few positional switches we got through for five excellent goals which was very encouraging. It's pleasing from the selectors' point of view that we have bounced back from being relegated in the league recently, but we have a lot of work ahead of us to be ready for the championship."

Tipp manager Eamon O'Shea commented: "I'm not disappointed at losing the game. It was an excellent one to get in terms of preparation and we have another one next week against Waterford which should have us in good fettle for the Limerick championship game in a couple of weeks."
