Under 14C Munster Championship Final
Seven weeks after their round three game in the Munster Championship, Tipperary's Under 14 team met Clare in the Munster "C" Championship Final in Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary Town on Saturday last. Tipperary had met Clare earlier in the Championship in Kildysart, Co. Clare on the 2nd March. They had a thrilling game then and Tipperary took a one point victory. Tipperary 5-6 Clare 5-5.

Everyone expected another thrilling game on this occasion and they were not disappointed. There was a strong wind blowing and it took Tipperary a while to settle into the game. Clare opened the scoring with one goal and two points within the first fifteen minutes of the game. Tipperary kept trying to score and were rewarded in the twentieth minute with a goal by Kate Davey but Clare replied within minutes with another goal. In normal time of the first half both teams added another point to their score lines but Tipperary got a vital goal from Lara O'Dwyer in injury time of the first half which left the half time score - Clare 2-3 Tipperary 2-1.

The second half of the game started in as thrilling as a fashion as the end of the first half, Jean Kelly (Tipperary) scored a goal within two minutes of the recommencement and Tipperary took the lead for the first time in the game. But Clare quickly replied with a goal and a point in the 34th minute of the game. Tipperary continued to dominate possession and by the 42nd minute, the sides were level. Tipperary's next point gave them back the lead in the forty third minute of the second half and they did not relinquish the lead again during the game. Another Jean Kelly goal was to separate the teams even further in the 52nd minute to stretch Tipperary's advantage to five points. In the final six minutes of the game Clare scored two more points to Tipperary's one but this was not enough to deny the home side the victory. The final score Tipperary 4-7 Clare 3-6.

Afterwards, Tipperary's Lara O'Dwyer accepted the player of the match award while Munster Vice-Chairman Anthony O'Brien presented the cup to the Tipperary joint captains Jean Kelly and Kirsty Crotty Ryan.
