Late Pat "Red" Kennedy -
The death tool place on Thursday July 5th of Pat "Red" Kennedy England and late of Ballyduff, Rathcabbin. The eldest in a family of eight he was 71years old and had been in bad health for a number of years, residing in a nursing home for almost two years. Known affectionly as 'Red' when he was hurling to distinguish him and because of his hair, Pat worked in the factory of Birr Shoes before emigrating. He was also a hurler of note with the Lorrha club back during the 1960s. He met and married Maureen Coonan and they raised two sons. Sadly one son Michael was tragically killed just a few short years ago in a road traffic accident. Pre-deceased also by his sisters Kathleen Clancy (Rathcabbin), and Margaret (Scotland) he is survived by his wife Maureen, son John, sisters Martha (Rathcabbin), Christina (England), brothers George (Birr), Liam (Lorrha), sisters in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is extended. Burial takes place in England on Thursday 19th. There will be a Mass held in Rathcabbin for the repose of his soul at a later date. May he rest in peace.
