MATCH REPORTS TIPERARY SENIOR, INTERMEDIATE AND U16s.
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
TIPPERARY 1.06 WEXFORD 1.17
Tipperary took the field against All Ireland Champions with a much changed team that included five of last years Minor team in blustery conditions in the county camogie ground at the ragg on saturday.It was to be a steep learning curve for the Tipperary as Wexford took the game to tipperary and after 4 mins Wexford had the ball in the Tipperary net when a loose ball was kicked in by Una Leacy .Tipperary strived to put pressure on Wexford but apart from acouple of half chances the Wexford defence were in control a further three points by Wexford put them futher ahead untill a well taken point by captain Joanne Ryan put Tipperary on the scoreboard.tipperary were holding on at this stage untill a flurry of Wexford points by ursula Jacobs opened up a big gap, Tipp replied with points by Caoimhe Maher and Mary Ryan to leave the half time score Tipperary 0.03 Wexford 1.10.Tipperary brought on Cait devane and Sarah Fryday on for the start or the second half and cait dvane opened the scoring with a well pointed free,then Tipps Ereena Fryday scored a great goal to give a large Tipperary crowd some hope and when Nicole Walshe converted two more frees Tippwere looking and play their best camogie,however Wexfords Una Leacy and Ursula Jacob were in great form and closed out the game with afinal score of !.06 to 1.17.Tipperary can take great heart from thier second half display and look foreward to Clare this Saturday.
INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP
TIPPERARY 1.07 WEXFORD 0.10
Played in the camogie grounds last Saturday as a double header with the senior team Tipperary s intermediates had a great game against the All Ireland Intermediate champions. Led by captain Caoimhe Kennedy Tipperary were playing very good camogie with tipperarys defence comfortably in control and midfield feeding great balls into the forewards tipperary were in control with a goal by Aoife Moloughney and points by Brid Quinnn, Aoife Shinnors and Maria ryan Tipperary led at halftime 1.05 to 0.06.Playing with the wind Wexford stated the brighter and goalie Siobhan ryan had to be at her best to prevent a Wexford goal but frees by Wexfords Ciara Oconnor kept Tipperary under pressure but Tipperary held out for a well deserved draw.
U16a CHAMPIONSHIP
TIPPERARY 2.09 kILKENNY 1.11
An understreghth Tipperary played Kilkenny in the first round of the championship at the Camogie Grounds last Sunday after noon. Tipperary raced into a comfortable lead a goal by Ashling Mcarthy folowed with points by Nicola Butler,Cliodhna Ryan and Toni Kennedy ,Killkenny scred three points before tipps Niamh Treacy scored three points to give a totally dominant Tipperary a 1.06 to o.03 lead at half time.Kilkenny pointed two scores before Tipperarys Courtney Ryan goaled,Tipperary were totaly dominating with a further three points and looked to be coasting six minutes to go eight points up,then the wheels almost came off Kilkenny scored four unanswered points then scrambled a goal causing panic in the Tipp team Who managed to hold out to win by 1 point.
