Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes

May 28, 2012
Adult League
The last of our adult league competitions for the present was played on Friday last 25th in Cahir between Cahirs second team and Galtee Rovers. After Cahir winning the Intermediate league last weekend they had high hopes of winning this Junior D league final. After a very lively first half the teams were level at the break. The Galtee Rovers team talk at half time certainly woke them up as they raced into a commanding lead early in the second half. Cahir regrouped and fought hard to pull the scores back only to come up short by two points. In their first year in adult football last year Galtee they were Junior D shield winners, this win should give them the confidence to move up to a higher level in this year's championship.

Gaelic4Girls Blitz.

Well done to Clonmel Og who had fifty Primary School Girls playing in a National Blitz day in Moyle Rovers G.A.A grounds last Saturday 25th May. Over four hundred and fifty girls from all over clubs in Munster and South Leinster were present on the day. Well done to the Clonmel Og club for running this Gaelic4Girls project for the past 10 weeks in Ned Hall Park every Monday night. Most nights about eighty girls were present and were coached by a team of coach's lead by Siobhan Phelan and Valerie Mc Carthy hopefully all this work will be fruitful l for the club in the future. Siobhan Condon our Co Development Officer put in a huge effort into organising this very demanding day.

Co-Chair.

Our Co. Chairman Tommy Campbell was a very proud man on Sunday last when his son Alan lined out at wing back for Tipperary Senior footballers in Semple Stadium against Kerry. Alan's mother Patty is no stranger to Ladies football, being the holder of an All-Ireland club medal with the Heath club in Co Laois. Playing at wing forward for Tipperary was Shane Scully whose mother Elleen was a founder member of the Templemore Ladies Gaelic Football club. Michael Quinlivans sister Sally lines out for Clonmel Commercials Ladies club. Caroline Cadel a selector with our Co under 16 team was also a proud mum then her son Paddy lined out with Tipperary Primary Game.
