Late Mr. Billy Quinlan

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Mr. Billy Quinlan, Roscrea who passed away in the early days of January 2011. Billy was a committed and loyal member of Roscrea Hurling Club throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Roscrea Minor Hurling teams of 1956 and 1957 and he represented the club at Junior level in 1957, 1958 and 1959. He continued to be an active member of the Club after his playing days and did Trojan work on the various committees he served on behalf of the members. Billy spent many years working on the hurling pitch, helping to keep the sod and grass in top condition, lining the field, having the flags in place on match days, looking after the nets and score-board etc. Loyalty was a very important trait in Billy's make up and he was an ever present member on the nights of the weekly Lotto draws. Billy Quinlan was a quiet, unassuming gentleman who met the players, mentors and supporters of the various teams who played in Roscrea with a smile and a friendly greeting. His passing is mourned by all who frequent At Cronan's Park. Ar dheis Lamh De go raibh a anam uasal.
