Late Fintan Spain
The death occurred after a short illness on Wednesday December 8th. At St. Kieran's Nursing home of Fintan Spain, Rathcabbin.
In his 85th year, Finatan was one of 9 children, four boys and five girls. A single man, he worked the family farm throughout his life. He was noted as a gifted senior hurler with the local club whether it be outfield or in goals in the 1950's. He also loved the game of cards which he took seriously and played a couple of times a week. Hunting was another sport he indulged his spare time in and often went shooting around the callows. A wonderful neighbour who was never found wanting when the occasion arose, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him but in particular by his family. Sympathy is extended to his sisters Peg Black (Meath) Gertie White (Birr), Tess Gallager (Leitrim), Phil Hughes (England), brothers Michael (Roscrea), Gerry (Dundalk), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends on their loss. After funeral Mass in our lady queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Friday 10th. Burial took place in Bonoham Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
