The late Christie d'Estelle Roe

The death occurred on March 5th last of Christie d'Estelle Roe, 1 Park View, Templemore. A native of the town, he was born on 1st April 1920. Christie was pre-deceased by his wife Maureen (nee Shortt). He lived in Templemore all his life. Having served his time in Kelly's local hardware shop in Main Street and later on with Hoover, he secured employment as a Sales Rep with Maxol Oil, a position he held until his retirement.

He had a great love for the GAA and played at all levels. His sporting interests varied from Badminton to Golf to Greyhounds.
Christie passed away peacefully in Patterson's Nursing Home on the morning of Thursday 5th March. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Removal took place from Grey's Funeral Home to the Church of the Sacred Heart Templemore. Following Requiem Mass he was laid to rest in the local cemetery. Tenor Peter Dwan (friend and former neighbour) sang the hymns at the Mass, while Martin Bourke gave a graveside oration marking Christie's long association with the GAA.

Sincere sympathy is extended to his daughter Ann, sons, Declan, John, CJ and Aidan, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends and colleagues.
