Former Antrim senior hurling manager and Tipperary native, Dinny Cahill has agreed terms to take over Kilkenny club side Graigue-Ballcallan. It is understood that discussions over the appointment have been going on for only a short space of time, but last week an agreement was reached that Cahill would manage the club's senior hurlers next season. Graigue-Ballcallan club chairman Pat Hayes, who led the appointment committee, revealed his delight with Cahill's decision to take on the position. "We are over the moon with the news," said Hayes. "Dinny is one of the top coaches in the country. He is a real hurling man, and I think he will suit us down to the ground." It is understood that Cahill had been lined up by a number of other clubs before meeting with Hayes and his fellow committee members, Tommy Dermony and Conor Everard, who played under Cahill in Tipperary. "We merely said to him that he had managed in other places and not Kilkenny, and I think he liked the challenge of that," said Hayes. "We wouldn't believe our luck we landed such a good man so quickly." During his three-year spell with Antrim, Cahill is well known for having brought on the small ball game in Saffron County, but the frequent trips from south to north took its toll.
