Eoin Kelly, who acted as free-taking coach this year, has been handed a new role within the Tipperary hurling management set-up for 2020.

The 2010 All-Ireland winning captain joins Tommy Dunne and Darragh Egan as selectors, with Eamon O'Shea moving to the newly-created role of 'performance director'.

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy said in a statement: “I have a wonderful relationship with Eoin going back many years. He brings a huge amount of experience to the management team and I am thrilled to have him on board.

“Eamon played a pivotal role ensuring the team was successful in 2019 and he is hugely respected within the group. His new role will give him the scope to be of even greater benefit to the panel in 2020.”

Tipp will play their first game since last August's All-Ireland SHC final victory over Kilkenny on Sunday when they take on Clare in the first round of the Munster SHL in Nenagh.
