Jordan: I'm a fast learner

November 16, 2007
New Sligo football boss Tommy Jordan is relishing the challenge of guiding the Yeats County to further glory in the months ahead. The Mayoman is keen to emulate the success of his predecessor Tommy Breheny, and while admitting that he is not all that familiar with Sligo football, he insists that he is a fast learner. "Once I get stuck into the job, I will come up to speed very quickly," he said. "I have experience of winning at All-Ireland level (with Crossmolina) and this experience will be of benefit to Sligo. "I'm anxious to get things up and running as quickly as possible and I know the players feel the same way. They've had their break and now they want to get back down to hard work, so the quicker we get started the better." Jordan believes there is huge potential in Sligo and is convinced the players will be eager to taste more success after this year's historic Connacht championship triumph. "Sligo had a great year in 2007 but I'm sure the players don't want to sit back on that. The squad had the potential to build on this year's achievement and that is what we will be aiming for," he added.
