Retired Sligo footballer Eamonn O'Hara is adamant that they should have won more Connacht titles during his playing career.

O'Hara picked up a provincial winners' medal in 2007 when Sligo defeated Galway in a final that saw the 37-year-old score one of the greatest goals ever scored.

However, he explained in an in-depth interview with the Sligo Champion that his one regret was not winning more provincial titles.

"We really should have won a few more Connacht titles," said O'Hara. "The 2012 campaign was bitterly disappointing.

"We beat Mayo and Galway on the way to the final, but then lost to Roscommon. I felt we also had the beating of Mayo in last year's Connacht final but we let it slip away. Those were definitely two that got away.

"Sligo hasn't had too many chances to win Connacht titles over the years so losing two that we should have won was hard to take."
