Kearins celebrates milestone birthday
April 26, 2013
Sligo football legend Mickey Kearins celebrated his 70th birthday with family and friends in Rafter's, Beltra last Saturday.
To mark the occasion, Mickey was presented with a special statuette designed by local artist Ian Carty. The statuette will be vying for a place on Mickey's mantelpiece alongside his All Star award from 1971 and his Connacht senior championship medal from 1975.
Widely regarded as Sligo's greatest ever footballer, Mickey will soon be immortalised with a life-size sculpture, which is also being designed by Ian Carty. The Dromard man played senior football for the Yeats County for 17 years and was chosen on the Connacht Football Team of the Millennium.
