Scott, Tommy

July 16, 2008
The untimely death has occurred of the great St. Farnans stalwart, Tommy Scott. Tommy, from Aughris was the inspiration behind a generation of St. Farnans footballers over the last 30 years. In the eighties and nineties he managed various different teams in the club ranging from U12 to Intermediate. His dedication to the club was also seen in the past few weeks where he went to see the Seniors win in Enniscrone despite his illness. The capturing of the Nestor Cup in Hyde Park was a proud day for Tommy as well as the club achieving Senior status for the first time. He introduced his three sons Declan, Adrian and Tomas to football at an early age and they all had prominent football careers. His grandchildren have also been introduced to football early on as they play with the underage teams. Not only was he a leader on the pitch but also off the pitch where he was constantly to the fore of Fundraisers and work on the pitch and the clubhouse. Tommy devoted a large proportion of his spare time to St.Farnans. The club would like to express their deepest sympathy to his wife Patsy, daughter Denise, sons Declan, Adrian, Tomas, grandchildren, Aine, Shane, James, Conor, Jada, Emma, Maura. Brothers Paddy, Joe, Noel, Billy, sisters Maureen and Margaret and to his large extended family. Ar dheis lamh De go raibh an h-anam dhilis. Sligo Champion, 16th July 2008
