Sligo SFC: Tourlestrane not interested in records

Tourlestrane joint-manager Gerry McGowan is adamant that there is no talk of the ‘four-in-a-row’ amongst the players.

The club are on the cusp of making history by recording four consecutive titles, a feat achieved by Ballisodare in the early sixties, but they were amalgamated with St Patrick’s/Domard for two of those wins.

McGowan is in no doubt that the players' focus is all about beating Coolera/Strandhill in Sunday’s final and creating records doesn’t come in to their thought process.

Speaking to the Sligo Champion, McGowan stated that they must remain focused on the task in hand and not let anything else distract them.

“Stats like these can be a burden and we don’t speak about that,” said McGowan. “I’m not saying that for the sake of it, it’s the truth. We always go about our business in the same way.

“It’s been no different in the way we’ve prepared. This four in a row stat is just something that has materialised. It’s great but it hasn’t happened yet and the thoughts of it haven’t crept in.”
