Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

June 05, 2018

Pride of place this week goes to the DRP girls U16 footballers who lifted the U16 'A' league title in dramatic fashion last Monday evening in Kent Park, when they survived a storming rally by Calry/St Joseph's to win the final by a single point: 3-13 to 5-6. The team led by 14 points going into the closing quarter of the match but three quick fire goals from Calry in a two-minute spell sparked their revival. In a nerve-jangling finish, the winning score for DRP came from the boot of Aoife McLaughlin in added time. Congrats to all involved including the management team of Barry O'Sullivan, Tim O'Sullivan, Carmel McDonagh and Sheila McLaughlin. A special mention too for former senior club captain Siobhán O'Sullivan who kindly assisted in the team's preparations for the final in recent weeks. Players Megan Byrne, Anna Flanagan, Alannah Gallagher, Leah Fehrmann, Caoimhe Connor, Lorraine Oates, Eimear Kivlehan, Oda Carthy, Sophie McDonagh (Capt), Amy Coyle, Keela Scanlon, Maeve Casserly, Leah McCarthy, Aoife McLaughlin, Kitty Leydon, Aveen Dunleavy, Holly O'Boyle, Teresa Devaney, Irauni Garia Oskoz, Laoise Moylan, Emma Shanley.

The U14 girls footballers also had a good week, recording a 9-6 to 2-11 win over Tourlestrane in the league last Tuesday evening.
