The Late Mr Thomas Mitchell The death took place at University College Hospital Galway of Mr Thomas Mitchell, Spiddal and late of Dereen, Ballyforan. A student at the CBS in the 1940's, he was one of the great footballers on the famous school team of the time and later played junior football for Roscommon. A chartered accountant by profession, he worked for many years in San Francisco and later came home to establish a very successful practice in Ballinasloe from which he retired some years ago. He will be especially remembered for his interest in the classics and his ability to quote freely from literature both in English and Latin. The sympathies of the people of Ballyforan and Ballgar goes out to his wife and family, brother and sisters in their great loss. His remains were removed to the Church of St John the Apostle, Knocknacarra, Salthill. The funeral to Rahoon Cemetery, Galway took place after concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection. Deceased is survived by his wife Florence (nee Feeley); sons, Leo and Mark, Spiddal; daughter, Louise; brother, Hugh, San Francisco; sisters, Rose San Antonia, Texas; Sister Veronica, Sister of the Holy Spirit of the Immaculate Heart, Garland, Texas; Margaret Coyne, San Francisco, nieces and nephews.
