Rackard Cup semi-final: Tyrone shock Rossies

May 24, 2014

Tyrone set up a Croke Park date with Fingal on June 7.
Tyrone 2-19
Roscommon 0-18

Two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half paved the way for a surprise Tyrone victory over Roscommon at Athleague.

Trailing by 0-8 to 0-12 at the break, Mattie Lennon's charges rocked the Rossies with quick-fire majors from Sean Og Grogan and Gerard Gilmore on the restart, and kicked on from there to set up a Croke Park date with Fingal on June 7.

Points from Robbie Fallon (free), John Moran and Michael Kelly eased the home side into an early 0-3 to 0-0 lead, but the Red Hands showed they meant business by drawing level through Damian Casey, Mark Winters and Gilmore efforts.

Cillian Egan put Roscommon back in front as further scores from Gerry Fallon, Darren Fallon, Robbie Fallon, David Dolan and Shane Curley gave them a four-point advantage at half-time.

But the underdogs took huge encouragement from their blistering start to the second half as points from Conor Grogan, Gilmore, Casey and Mulgrew saw them into the final.
