Late Mr Andy Lavin

The death occurred at Abbey Haven Nursing Home, Boyle on Saturday last of Mr Andy Lavin, Ballyfarnon and formerly of M/S W.H Lynn, Ballyfarnon. Predeceased by his wife Joan in 2000, Andy carried on an extensive and successful hardware and builders' providers business where his expertise and experience in his work was widely known and his advice was frequently sought. He was a
keen GAA supporter and particularly of his local club St. Ronan's and was a member of the clubs team who won the county junior final in 1962. He was actively associated with all community and
church linked activities and was always willing to land assistance when required.
His death has left the area without one of its most loyal and most respected residents. His remains were removed from Shivnan's Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon to St. Patrick's Church, Ballyfarnon on Sunday evening. Members of St. Ronan's GAA club including former team colleagues of the 1962 team formed a guard of honour at the removal of the remains.
Following Mass of Christian burial on Monday the funeral took place to Kilmactranny cemetery. Deceased is survived by his family, Angela (Keegan),Mullingar,Siobhan (McKenna), Jamestown, Andreas, Dublin and Eimear (Costello),Carrick-on-Shannon, by his brother, Canon Peadar, sons-in-law Pascal, Kevin and Eddie, daughter-in-law, Caitriona, by his grandchildren Patrick, Andrew and Brian, his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, neighbours and many friends.
