The death took place on Monday week last, June 25th of Mr Frank Greene, Cushla, Monksland, who was a native of Churchpark, Taughmaconnell. He had been in ill health for three years and he bore his illness with characteristic dignity and fortitude. A member of a very well known Taughmaconnell family, the deceased was widely known throughout the midlands due to his work role for many years as an AI technician with the North Western Cattle Breeders Society.

His initial work role was as a psychiatric nurse in London and he was deservedly popular with all those with whom he became acquainted over the decades due to his ready wit, conversational skills and easy familiarity. He was associated with many community activities in his native South Roscommon at varying times. He was a keen follower of Gaelic games and held various officerships with the Padraig Pearses GAA Club. He took a keen interest in current affairs and political affairs and was a lifelong supporter of the Fine Gael party. He was also a founder member of the Monksland and District Residents Association. Devoted to his immediate and extended family, he also performed many neighbourly deeds and charitable acts with typical self effacement throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Eithne (nee Brooks, Cushla) sons, Adrian, Galway; Morgan, New Zealand; Simon, Ballsbridge, Dublin and daughter, Mrs Eithne Borroughs, Moate. He was a member of a family of three boys and one girls and is also survived by his brother, Archie, Christchurch, New Zealand and sister Nancy, Sisters of Mercy, Poole, Dorset, four grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Following Concelebrated Mass at St Peter and Paul's Church on Thursday week the funeral took place to Taughmaconnell cemetery. The celebrants of the Mass were Rev.
