Last Sundays game between Pearses and Kilmore marked a anniversary of sorts, 50 years ago in 1952 the then newly formed club fielded a team in the Championship as a senior Club for the first time. The Club approached the game against Kilmore with some trepidation, mainly due to the number of Players on County Duty, it had been nearly impossible to assemble a full squad for warm up games, Aided by a strong Breeze Pearses did however get off to a good start with three points in the first ten minutes from Conor Daly, Sean Fahy and a free from Emmet Kelly, Kilmore opened their account after 12 minutes with a point from a free taken by corner forward Kevin Caslin, followed a few minutes later by a point from play by Paul McElhone. On the 18th minute Pearses hit a purple patch with four points without reply from Emmet Kelly, Conor Daly, John Whyte and Aaron Feehily. However the Kilmore lads finished the half on a high note with points from Joseph Garvey and Derek Connellan. The teams went in at half time on a score line of Pearses 0-7 Kilmore 0-4.With the wind now on their backs the Kilmore lads, Derek Connellan and Raymond Caslin reduced the deficit to the minimum in the first minute of the second half. Sean Fahy steadied the ship for Pearses with point after 5 minutes and again on 12 minutes. Aaron Feehily, Michael Donoghue and Emmet Kelly rounded off the remaining scores for Pearses. Kilmore were not to be easily overcome though and their inevitable fight back was spearheaded by Derek Connellan (2pts) with Paul Garvey and Paul McElhone recording a point a piece.
