Donie Shine admits it will be a tall order for Roscommon to beat Galway in Sunday's Connacht SFC opener at Hyde Park.
"A Connacht title would make a good season but this is a very big test trying to beat Galway. It's a Division 3 team against a Division 2 team so we have it all to do," he told The Irish Daily Mirror.
The Clann na nGael sharpshooter, who has been selected at left corner forward for Sunday's game, doesn't subscribe to the view that Connacht is the weakest province.
"I wouldn't agree. Mayo beat Cork in the All-Ireland quarter-finals last year so I don't know where people are getting these statements.
"Between Mayo and Galway, you have two very good teams and between the rest, we are just lagging a bit behind. If you could break that form and get up there with Mayo and Galway on a more regular basis, that would be good for the province."
