Date for your Diary

The annual St. Brigid's 10k/5k fun run/walk, organised by the Senior Ladies and in support of Ladies Football activities within the club, will take place on Sunday 17th June.

County Board Draw

It's that time of year again when the club executive will be asking people to buy the €100 County Board Draw tickets. There will be three draws over May, June and July with various cash prizes. Tickets can be purchased through four payments of €25 for four months through direct debit or tickets can be split between groups of people. Please support if you can.

Senior Men's League

St. Brigid's 2-9 Elphin 0-5.

The senior team came out easy winners over Elphin last Monday in Kiltoom. A first half penalty by Damian Kelleher and a second half goal helped to secure the win.

Our intermediate side lost out to St. Barry's in Tarmonbarry last Saturday evening.

Senior Ladies Connacht League

St. Brigid's 5-17 St. Nathy's 4-10.

On Friday last the senior ladies travelled to Kilmovee in Mayo to take on St Nathy's of Sligo in the 2nd round of the Connacht league. This was going to be a big test for team as St Nathy's had reached the final in 2011.

St Brigids started well and were in control leading up to half-time but a St Nathy's goal narrowed the gap. A prompt response via a Cliodhna McHugh goal helped St Brigids to a 1-9 to 1-4 half time lead. The early second half exchanges saw a brace of goals for St Nathy's and one from St Brigids. St Brigid's continue to add points to their tally but a further goal for St Nathy's and some points had the side level with less than 10 minutes to go. St Brigid's finished strongly and with 2 goals in the closing minutes ran out winners by 5-17 to 4-10.
In this 13-a-side game there were many good performances. Prominent in the scoring were Cliodhna McHugh, Claire Grehan, Nicole Nestor and Aine O'Brien. Fiona Gavin was tasked with marking St Nathy's main player and along with carrying out her defensive duties managed to get forward and record a point. The game saw Sarah Byrne and Shauna Francis make their senior debuts. Both acquitted themselves well in the game.

Next game is a county league semi-final next weekend.

Junior B League

St. Brigid's 0-11, Kilbride 0-10

Our junior B's had a narrow victory over Kilbride last Wednesday night in Kilbride.

U12 Girls

The U12s had mixed fortunes over the past week. On Sunday 30th April they recorded a victory over Clann na nGael (cubs) and on Tuesday came out second best to St Dominics.
