Minor Hurling Championship final.
Pearses Won their first title of 2012 by way of the Minor Hurling Championship, last Friday evening in Athleague against Roscommon Gaels. The Lads got off to a cracking start with a goal from Sean Dunne after 4 minutes, However with the wind on their backs the Gaels notched up 6 points in reply during the remainder of the half. leaving the Score at half time Pearses 1-0 Roscommon Gaels 0-6. Shane Naughten playing at full back gave a man of the match contribution by converting 4 points in the second half, further points from Graham Hendrix, Gavin Downey, Rory McManus, Adrian Mannion and a kicked goal by Eoin Glennon saw Pearses overturn the deficit with the wind in the second half. Roscommon Gaels only managed 2 points in the half largely due to the great efforts of the combined Pearses Defence lead by Capt. Noel Dolan. This was a very impressive win by a well polished panel. Final Score: Pearses 2-10 Roscommon Gaels 0-8. The Club and the minor panel wishes to acknowledge the great efforts of the Team's Management namely Paddy Hendricks, Sean Finnerty and Padraig Dooley. Team: Kevin Sweeney, Conor Glynn, Shane Naughten, Jason Mannion, Eoin Cogavin, Paul Dolan, Gavin Downey, Graham Hendrix, Leon Feehily, Eoin Glennon, Adrian Mannion, Ritchie McManus, Sean Dunne, Adam Finnerty, Rory McManus, Keith Geraghty,
Under 14 Hurling Feile Semi-final.
Pearses under 14 Hurlers Took on Oran in the semi final of the Feile hurling last Saturday in Athleague. Having played well below par in their previous encounter in this competition the under 14s were anxious to make amends. Oran had the better start racing into a 3 point lead before Daniel Glynn opened the account for Pearses on the tenth minute. A point from Shane Downey and a goal and point from Eoin Galvin saw the Half time score read Pearses 1-3 Oran 0-4. Any hope of an Oran comeback were dashed in a 6 minute period at the start of the second half when Shane Downey crashed home two goals and a further from Eoin Galvin, in fact Eoin brought his tally to three goals before the end of play, Karl Feehily and Daniel Glynn who both had good showings tacked on a brace of points a piece,
In Defence Lorcan Daly, Seamie Lohan, Oisin Kelly, and Lee Clogher held the fort, Dylan Johnston beavered away at midfield, while other notables up front included Luke Powell, Brian Burke and Mark Haines. The Under 14s take on St Dominics in the feile final Sunday, May 13th.
