McManus, Thomas

The death took place on Saturday week last in Boston of Mr Thomas (Tom) McManus, Milton, Boston and formerly of Nure, Cornafulla.

Aged 85, the deceased emigrated to Boston in June 1949 and was a foreman for a gas company in that city almost all his working life. He was a lover of Gaelic games and was a keen follower of the fortunes of the Clann na Gael sides and the Roscommon senior panel over the decades. He was a devoted husband, father and grand-father and he performed many charitable deeds and kind acts in the course of his life. He is survived by his wife, Lena, sons, John, Tom and Stephen and daughters, Katie and Margaret.

A member of a family of two boys and four girls, he is also survived by one brother, John, Nure, one sister, Mrs Kathleen Kenny, England, six grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Following Concelebrated Mass the burial took place in Boston on Friday. A Mass for the repose of his soul was celebrated at St Brigid's Church, Drum on Saturday last.
