Meath secured a pole position finish in Group 2 of the Christy Ring Cup thanks to a four-point win over Roscommon in Athleague today.

Both teams had already secured their places in the business end of the competition prior to throw-in but it was the Royals who continued their winning ways on a scoreline of 0-23 to 0-19.

The visitors edged a closely contested first half by 0-10 to 0-9.

Jack Regan converted five frees in the opening period and while centre-forward Barry Slevin sent over the insurance point in the first minute of stoppage time.

Meanwhile, holders Kildare have spared themselves the ignominy of a relegation play-off after getting the better of hosts London by three points in Ruislip.

A Jack Sheridan brace proved decisive in the Lilywhites’ 2-19 to 2-16 victory.

David Herity’s charges trailed by 1-7 to 1-9 at the change of ends but fought back to claim the spoils thanks largely to left corner-forward Sheridan’s second three pointer which arrived in the 66th minute.
