Roscommon manager Anthony Cunningham believes that his charges must show a greater consistency heading into the Connacht SFC.

Looking back on their FL1 campaign that ended in relegation, Cunningham stressed to the Roscommon Herald that they are a match for any team in the top flight when they hit top form.

The Galway native admitted that they just didn’t perform for long enough or often enough during games.

“When we were 0-06 to 0-03 up (against Kerry) and when we were two points up against Dublin ten minutes into the second half, we were able to match any team,” said Cunningham.

“It’s about consistency and getting a bit more clever in our play. It’s about not coughing up the easy scores. It’s about cutting out those mistakes that ultimately cost us.

“It will roll around very quickly when we play Leitrim. That’s our biggest focus. We will be playing a team that are on the crest of a wave and have massive confidence. That won’t be an easy match for us.”
