Scotstown 1-15
Slaughtneil 0-15

Holders Slaughtneil have been knocked out of the Ulster Club SFC after they suffered a three point defeat at the hands of Scotstown in Clones.

Darren Hughes' first half goal proved to be the difference between the sides at the final whistle as last year's defeated All-Ireland finalists made a surprise exit from the competition.

Slaughneil held a slender 0-4 to 0-5 lead at the end of the opening quarter but Hughes' goal turned the tide in Mattie McGleenan's charges favour.

They were four points up at the break (1-9 to 0-8) and the same margin separated the sides with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The Mickey Moran managed Slaughtneil got back to within a point with six minutes to go after Paul Bradley converted a free but Scotstown replied with two unanswered points from Orin Heaphey and Conor McCarthy and they now turn their attention to a semi-final clash with Trillick of Tyrone.
